About King J'vonte

In April 2022, the Baltimore Faerie Faire, led by the visionary Nina Amaya, marked a historic moment with the crowning of J’vonte Lee. His reign as king continued until April 2023, culminating in the grand opening of RealmScape Festival—a groundbreaking event dedicated to fostering accessibility, queers, inclusion, and diversity within the folk mythical realm.

J’vonte’s leadership sparked a movement, ensuring BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals like himself had a celebrated space in these imaginative worlds. His impact was first felt in May 2022 with Faeryscape, a one-time event that captivated audiences and laid the foundation for the now-thriving Afro Fae initiative. 

During this milestone event, J’vonte not only embraced his role as king but also amplified the voices of BIPOC creatives, introducing the world to Brown Sugar Fairies by Aiysha Sinclair and forging partnerships with various artists, authors, musicians, and community leaders.

With each passing year, the Afro Fae movement grows in influence, expanding its reach beyond Baltimore and into the broader fantasy community. Now, with RealmScape Festival, the mission extends even further—introducing Quirky Fey alongside Afro Fae, ensuring that 100% of our community members have a place to celebrate, express, and thrive!

What started as a crowning has become a cultural revolution, proving that the world of fantasy is for everyone. Baltimore is now home to a new era of fae magic, and the RealmScape Festival is leading the way!
